Laura Harriss is a sophomore who grew up in Powder Springs, GA, just outside of Atlanta. She is majoring in Food Science with a minor in Fermentation Sciences. Upon coming to Purdue, Laura immediately found her home at Purdue Hillel. You can often find her there on Friday nights for Shabbat services and dinner. Although she had never been to a Shabbat service before coming to Purdue, Laura fell in love with the services and community and she now finds Shabbat to be her favorite time of the week. After spending a lot of her free time at Hillel during her freshman year, Laura decided she wanted to become more involved which led her to becoming the Vice President of Internal Relations. Outside of Hillel, she is involved in many other student organizations on campus including Food Science Club. In her free time, Laura has earned her 3rd Degree Blackbelt in Universal Martial Art and continues to train. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, baking, and playing with her dog Pancake!

The Purdue Hillel Foundation is aware of the University's announcement of Parents weekend which is in direct conflict with Rosh Hashanah. We are actively working with the Provost's Office and the Office of Student life on this issue. We have engaged in dialogue to avoid something like this happening in the future and are also actively working on an alternative weekend of activities. More details on those plans are forthcoming.
